Sharp Physiotherapy offers a range of services to treat musculoskeletal and sports injuries. You do not need a doctor’s referral and ACC claims can be completed onsite if required.

Following a comprehensive initial assessment (45 minutes to 1 hour) you will have a clear understanding of your injury and condition and the treatment options available to you.

Physiotherapy treatment options may include:

  • Manual Therapy/Manipulation

Effective hands-on techniques which aim to reduce pain and restore normal movement. Specialised post graduate training ensures these techniques are performed safely and effectively.

  • Acupuncture/Dry Needling

Insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body for pain relief and healing. Acupuncture and dry needling is based on clinical reasoning and may be part of the overall management approach.

  • Soft Tissue Massage/Myofascial Release Techniques

Effective hands-on techniques to release tight spots in muscles and tension in the fascia which surrounds the body’s muscles, joints and organs.

  • Muscle Imbalance/Postural Correction

Comprehensive assessment and analysis of the body statically and during functional movements to help establish the cause of your injuries and prevent further problems.

  • Exercise Programs

Individualised programs to suit your needs and assist you returning to optimum function. Whether you need lengthening, strengthening or stabilising a variety of exercises based options are available.

  • Pilates

Low impact exercises designed to improve spinal and pelvic stability. The movements are designed to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, posture and co-ordination in order to achieve longer, stronger, slimmer muscles without building bulk.  Joseph Pilates developed the Pilates method in the 1920s an since then the method has been refined to focus on conditioning the smaller more specific muscles which are often neglected in other forms of training.
